i think i've found the answer~
:D
first, you have to stop doing things that harm you and you don't like to do, e.g. overnight hanging out doing boliao things with madman-friends. (ok, i've only done that on very few occasions.)
secondly, free up as much time as possible! this is impossible but it can be done! i'm giving tuition and am earning enough to sustain my lifestyle, i've got a friend who's learning to invest in stocks (and he hopes to fund his university education by that). one way to free up time is to sleep early so that your morning is saved :D
thirdly, force yourself to do something healthy, whether you like it or not. for me it is to exercise. gotta do it even if i'm feeling tired. oftentimes the tiredness is a psychological effect and seems to disappear during workout. spend some time preparing for the future, too. like mugging for university.
in the meantime, come around to the idea that you don't have to prove to yourself you're the bestest in the world so there's nothing pressurising you to produce results. the free time is me time and me is going to enjoy me time! this is the most important step. else you'll hate every second of your life because it's wasted.
and the final! this one will make your life incredible!
be sensitive to your physical senses! your abilities of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch give FANTASTIC experiences. do that while ignoring your mental processes, like your sense of time.
what then, do you explore with your senses?
anything! stop thinking, and just smell the fresh cold front of wind while admiring a sunny sky spotted with clouds. is the air scented with rain or cold mint?
or explore a new shopping centre, a new restaurant, a new park. i love dining in a restaurant that has glass panes which allow you to see the busy movement outside but without the noise. that isolation is like a time wrap. spend that time with a close friend or someone whom you'd like to know more (in yesterday's case it was my brother).
so this is what having a slow, happy life is all about...
thanks to one of yiwei's blog posts (the one with the video) which knocked me to my senses haha!
